Day 163

I saw an advertisement today for Planet Green on the Discovery Network. It seems that going green has gone mainstream. Starting June 4th @ 6:00 pm, Planet Green is going live. This is a step in the right direction for awareness. The next step is for the green movement to be supported by the economy, then things will start changing rapidly… for the better.

Character of the Day:

Bill – Salt of the Earth Theologian
One of the valuable lessons I have learned from this project is to never judge a book by its cover. Bill for example owns a company in the construction business specializing in painting. That being said, one would never guess that Bill has his masters in Theology. He is from Ohio and at an early age started traveling. In high school he was part of a foreign exchange program where he visited Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and China. He has walked on top of the Great Wall and traversed the bay of Hong Kong. During college he decided to take a break and head out to California where he worked and skied at Mammoth Mt. for a season and hiked Sequoia Nat’l Park for another. After getting his business degree he decided to check out Florida, Virgina, and Phoenix. He finally made it to NC to be near his parents who are enjoying retirement. He has always enjoyed working and creating with his hands which is how his company, Excelsior Painting, came into the picture. It took me the whole conversation to figure Bill out. I was expecting a brash attitude and surprisingly received the exact opposite. We didn’t get a chance to talk Theology / Philosophy, perhaps the next time I see him. His favorite thing about Birkdale… “The sightseeing”.
